Sukhi Dal ( WhiteUrad)

Ingredients: 

1 cup husked black gram
4 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/8 tsp asafoetida
1 tbsp ginger juliennes
1 tsp green chilies- juliennes
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp salt or to taste
1/2 tsp chili powder
fried, browned onions for garnish


Method: Wash the dal till the water runs clear and then soak in 2 cups of hot water for 2 hours.
Heat the ghee, and add cumin and asafetida. Add ginger and green chilies, saut
é little and add the dal
Turn around to mix well, and add the turmeric, salt and chili powder.
Add 2 cups hot water, bring to a boil and lower the heat, cook covered for about 10 minutes. Till waiter dries up and its dry
Serve hot garnished with the fried onions and green chilies
